Yao’s injury is an old one I think? About a month ago? That should be the one that healed up by the time they shot the promo. Shang strained her hips? I think? It’s s strain and not like a tear or a break.

people keep asking me about this so im reblogging myself~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Chinese tend to downplay injuries though, so I’m somewhat hesitant. Yao Jinnan’s injury right before the Olympics was “just” a strain too. Hopefully nothing’s serious.

As long as Yao is healthy this time it’s all good for me.

Skinner is probably going to be doing AA during prelims in Nanning, and I’m not sure how I feel about this.

She’ll be a solid 3rd AAer for team USA. Probably place top 10, to be honest.

I don’t doubt that. She most likely will…

Kocian will most likely compete beam in prelims, yes. Locklear, I’m less sure about because her BB routine is just as lackluster as Skinner’s and Skinner was used over Locklear on beam in PanAm.

At this point locklear doesn’t need to do beam. I’m sure it’ll be a see what happens in workouts and PT scenario to decide between the woga girls and her going in prelims and Ashton. Which of course is part of the fun of worlds

Is that her layout 1/1?

Yes she pikes it in here a lot. And she only does the layout out of a round off not a tuck.

Jesus Christ she almost tucks it here

I hate both of these skills so much. Like the side somi is ugly for everyone, but seriously the layout full is absolutely terrible for her. If you do not compete a skill correctly, or fall every time you do it in finals, you should not in any circumstance compete it.

In that case she should just not do beam

Oh my god I know. I can’t stand watching her on beam and do not understand the hype whatsoever.

I don’t understand the hype about her all around either

Her beam just irks me mostly because she’s actually a really talented gymnast and they’re doing her such a disservice by just trying to cram every single difficult skill that exists into her beam routines with no concern for how well she can do them or what they look like. It’s a shame for her and it’s a shame that the judges continue to give her such ridiculous E scores that she doesn’t deserve when much cleaner gymnasts are  punished for not having the difficulty that she does. I mean, her E scores are at over around 9.0 all the time and that’s just insanity, and it’s not fair to the girls that have routines in the high fives or low sixes that actually manage to execute their routines around a real 9.0 E. With the right beam composition and skill selection, I feel like Larisa could pull out a clean beam routine too, and it’s a total shame that her coaches aren’t allowing her to do so.

Lol, when has Larisa scored over 9.0 in this cycle. Also, she gets high execution scores because she lacks often good form in some elements (like in this full (piked) layout), but she has amazing consistency AND fluidity, something that, for example, last years medalists, Aliya and Simone(consistency) and Kyla(fluidity), lack, so overall her E scores are correct imo. It’s truth that she has gotten sloppier this year, but if I remember at Euros she was scoring in the 8.5’s with a very lenient judging, so the judges are not helping her while underscoring others.
Also, if I remember, she has only competed the layout full in domestic competitions and some WCs, so it’s not like she’s doing this mess at Worlds and being superoverscored.

Kyla got silver in the Bb final because she had two tiny wobbles near the beginning of the routine and a step on the landing while Mustafina had literally one tiny wobble (the one on her double turn, which idk if it was even counted as a wobble) throughout the whole exercise and a stuck dismount. She didn’t get silver because of “lack of fluidity”.

I’m kinda shocked by the lack of fluidity comment. I think Kyla’s routine is much more fluid than most. There always is a rhythm to it. If Kyla stuck her dismount she would have won. I love Larisa but let’s not hate on other gymnasts to build her up. That being said I think her form this year has improved on beam.
